The Fuji Elios 2 track bike is another great starter bike for anyone who is curious or interested in the fixed gear/track bike style of cycling. This bike comes perfectly set up for any fixed gear rider, however it is also easily converted to a simple functional bicycle with a few minor adjustments.
One of the best aspects of this complete bicycle is the excellent frame. The Fuji Elios 2 cycle is a custom butted Cro-moly frame. What that boils down to is excellent geometry. The geometry of this frame makes it a much more comfortable ride than most other track bikes out there, especially if you are riding this thing everyday for commuting purposes. The Elios 2 is constructed in a way that makes it quite versatile. Some bikes are built for the track and intended to only be fast, but not very practical on the streets. This bike is built for both the streets and the track; it is a comfortable ride, and it can hold its own on the velodrome. The Elios 2 frame is also pre-drilled for other components one may want to add on, including front and rear brakes as well as double water bottle mounts. With this frame you don't have to worry about risky drilling procedures, Fuji has already taken care of that.
This is a great and very smooth riding bike, and best of all, it is very inexpensive. With the Elios 2 you don't have to make a huge and painful investment to try out fixed gear. If you come to find out fixed gears aren't for you, the Elios 2 is outfitted with a flip flop hub, so you can easily convert to a freewheel bike. Either way, it is a very strong and efficient frame whichever way you decide to ride.
The only criticisms that I have experienced or heard from others bikers about the Elios 2 are all very minor. The pedals and clips that come standard with this bike are rather cheap. The tires have also been known to not hold pressure very well. These minor problems can all be solved with easy upgrades and the positive aspects of this cycle greatly outweigh the downfalls. Overall, the Fuji Elios 2 is a solid bike.
